Step Six – Week Six
Increase Fresh Greens and Vegetables and Fruits
The more fresh greens, vegetables and fruits you consume the better!
Consume all kinds of vegetables and fruits 5 times a day or at least 3 times a day. Always have them on the side of whatever it is you’re eating, as garnish. And have them as snacks twice a day or anytime you feel hungry or have a craving.
In Mexico, we have this “saying”:
“The best diet is TLM” (“Traga la Mitad”)
Very wise, even though it is meant as a joke. Eat half of whatever amount you are used to having, substituting the other half with fresh greens, vegetables and fruits, in case you remain hungry. Believe me, such a wonderful practice will enormously reduce your weight and like a Swiss watch, your digestive system will work.
One most important detail: NEVER buy dressings, especially the commercial brands, they are delicious, I know, but they have lots of sugar in them besides not ever knowing what are they really made of or what quality their ingredients are.
You’ll be better off preparing your own dressings. Use your imagination and you will enjoy very different flavours all the time. This way you will always exactly know what you’re putting in there and always verifying their quality.
In my own personal opinion, the very best dressing is:
Lemon juice
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt and lemon pepper
Your choice of herbs; aromatic, or any herb you like, different herbs will completely change the dressing flavour.
Adding some mustard will also give your dressing a nice twist.
Here is a recipe you may want to try since it is delicious, easy to prepare, and very very low in calories.
CHICKEN SALAD
Shredded chicken breast (Broiled or boiled)
Peas
Yellow Corn
Apple cider vinegar
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt and lemon pepper
Oregano
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Serve in the centre of a plate. Place some broiled Cambray potatoes cut into slices on the plate border. Use one medium size avocado to form a flower covering the salad and complete it with some alongside cut pickles. Add some olives as a finishing touch. Eat with some salty crackers or toast or tortilla chips.
Remember: corn is healthier than wheat. Due to its manufacturing process tortillas are particularly rich in fibre and calcium.
Enjoy!
