HI! I am is Cristina Aguilera. Last time we were talking about the role probiotics plays to keep us healthy. Since they help to balance our microbiome, they also aid the intestines and the rest of our organs to better function.

What are probiotics? Yoghurt, for example, is a probiotic. All fermented foods are probiotics as well. Such as pickles and sour kraut as long as they are fermented with salt instead of vinegar. The later kills the good bacteria of our microbiome. So every time you buy pickles or sour kraut read the ingredient content carefully making sure they do not contain vinegar, but salt instead.

Something else, probiotics should be consumed together with prebiotics. Most fruits and vegetables are prebiotics, like avocados. This so-called prebiotics feed probiotics, that is why we have to eat them together.
